This professional learning opportunity is designed for individual educators who are new to the program and want to strengthen their Spanish literacy instruction on a set timeline. The course consists of 13.5 hours of professional learning delivered virtually across six synchronous sessions. All professional learning is delivered in Spanish by expert Master Teachers with extensive experience teaching beginning reading.

The course is organized into two parts that provide the knowledge and instructional practices educators need to successfully implement Aprendo Leyendo.

Part 1: Foundations of Aprendo Leyendo (9 Hours)

Participants learn how to:

• Implement Aprendo Leyendo with fidelity
• Deliver multisensory instruction for reading, spelling, and handwriting
• Build cross-linguistic connections between Spanish and English
• Plan and deliver Aprendo Leyendo lessons
• Develop students’ accuracy, fluency, and reading comprehension
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Administer Aprendo Leyendo’s curriculum-based assessments and analyze assessment data to inform instruction

Part 2: Guided Implementation (4.5 Hours)

Participants continue their learning through collaborative sessions focused on classroom implementation, including:

• Instructional  feedback
• Collaborative lesson planning
• Student placement and instructional grouping using assessment data
• Differentiated instruction
• Pacing guidance for successful classroom implementation
• Assessment interpretation and instructional planning
• Literacy center implementation to reinforce previously taught skills
• Question-and-answer sessions
