Foundational Literacy
Intelexia was founded with a clear purpose: to help children learn to read in Spanish and use that skill as a foundation for lifelong learning. Since 2015, our work has combined research, teacher expertise, and a deep commitment to educational equity.
Today, we partner with school districts, administrators, school leaders, teachers, and communities across Latin America and the United States to strengthen literacy and help students become independent readers.
Our Mission
Intelexia’s mission is to ensure that all children learn to read by providing teachers with the knowledge, tools, and support to deliver evidence-aligned instruction efficiently and effectively. We partner with teachers and schools to help students master Spanish foundational reading skills in order to transition from learning to read to reading to learn.

Research Studies & Results
We continually conduct research studies to evaluate the Aprendo Leyendo program’s effectiveness. The data proves our impact improving early reading skills:

Buenos Aires Province (2019)
In 2019, the Haskins Global Literacy Hub at Yale University and the University of Connecticut, and Favaloro University conducted a research study in schools across the Buenos Aires Province.
The project compared outcomes in classrooms implementing Aprendo Leyendo against others that maintained their existing approach to reading instruction.
The results were statistically significant: students in the Aprendo Leyendo group achieved better results in sentence-level reading comprehension tests.
Ciudad de Buenos Aires (2022-2023)
A two-year study (2022–2023) conducted with the Haskins Global Literacy Hub at Yale University and the University of Connecticut, and the Universidad de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires assessed the efficacy of the Aprendo Leyendo program in public schools in Buenos Aires with over 400 students in first and second grade.
Students using Aprendo Leyendo showed statistically significant progress in phonological awareness, fluency, and comprehension. Teachers also reported higher motivation and engagement in the classroom.
The findings confirm Aprendo Leyendo as an evidence-based program that helps children learn to read and develop the foundation for fluent, independent reading.
Chaco Province (2025-2026)
During the 2025 school year, an assessment of the efficacy of the Aprendo Leyendo program at scale was conducted in schools across the Chaco Province, encompassing over 75,000 first and second-grade students. This collaborative effort was carried out with the provincial Ministry of Education, the Institute of Neurosciences and Education (INE) of the INECO Foundation, the Universidad de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, the Haskins Global Literacy Hub at Yale University and the University of Connecticut, and The National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas, CONICET).
The study showed that first-grade students using the program demonstrated significantly higher performance across all evaluated skills. Students using Aprendo Leyendo achieved reading comprehension scores that were twice as high as the control group. Additionally, second-grade students showed substantial improvements in letter-sound knowledge, as well as in word and text reading.
These results support the effectiveness of Aprendo Leyendo in boosting early literacy during the first years of schooling, reaffirming the proven success of previous research at scale.
