Each level includes two main student books: a skills book (cuadernillo) and a decodable chapter book (cuentos). Our student materials give children daily reading and writing practice through culturally-authentic stories and structured literacy activities that strengthen phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
How does Aprendo Leyendo support teaching children to read in Spanish?
Teaching a child to read in Spanish involves systematic and explicit instruction in sounds, syllables, and word structures while building and reinforcing their vocabulary. Aprendo Leyendo includes three types of curriculum-based assessments: the Test of Single Word Reading (Prueba de Palabra Aislada), the Alphabet Test (Evaluación Preliminar de Sonidos y Palabras), and the Proficiency Tests (Evaluación Final de Cuadernillo). These assessments are administered in Spanish and are used for placement, progress monitoring, and mastery evaluation.
